the mood is: honing your intuition skills by guessing the star signs of strangers.

I’m a triple air sign, baby...

…which just means I enjoy thinking about things in the “big picture” sense and I’m maybe not so great at replying to texts and phone calls. Or something like that. Or nothing like that! Because, at the end of the day, astrology* is a sample framework to learn from, not a dictation of who you are or how exactly to be. It’s just another way to have a conversation. With yourself, with others, with your community (if you happen to live in LA like I do).

Anyways! This theme! This mood! These recos. There’s a non-fiction book that examines the impact of mental health diagnoses and who assigns them, told across four very different stories; there’s a movie and the novella it’s derived from, which both explore how to talk to aliens, our children, and ourselves; there’s a fiction book told from the perspective of a fragile, naive young woman who’s disguised herself as a therapy patient in order to expose the psychotherapist she believes is responsible for her sister’s suicide (go girl); and a film that transforms the mundane and demanding acts of parenthood into tense, anxiety-laden action sequences.

The recos are linked in the above paragraph if you wanna just get to it, while the podcast explores how they all connect and how the mood of discovering your sixth sense, your intuition, your own personal narrative, and your role in society, comes to life in five distinct and entertaining ways.

Enjoy!
